One direction, one memorable outing

Day Trips from Flagler Beach

Flagler Beach makes a calm base for bigger regional experiences, but the best day trips commit to one direction. Compare historic St. Augustine, the gardens and Hammock to the north, Daytona and Ormond to the south, or a flexible drive along the A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway.

St. Augustine day trip

Make St. Augustine a one-zone day: park once near the Visitor Information Center, visit Castillo de San Marcos early, then explore the compact historic district on foot before returning down A1A. Allow roughly an hour each way only as a planning estimate—traffic, festivals and bridge delays vary—and check National Park Service hours, fees and weather closures before leaving Flagler Beach.

Scenic A1A road trip

For the best half-day A1A drive, travel north from Flagler Beach through the Hammock, stop at Washington Oaks, continue toward Marineland or Matanzas Inlet, then turn back before the day becomes mostly windshield time. The full A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway extends far beyond this loop; use its official map, stop only in designated places and check bridge, weather and park notices.
